Getting Started
Do I need a credit card to try Syllabi?
No. The free tier gives you 1 complete mini-course generation with no credit card required. Just create an account and start generating.
How do I create an account?
Click the Sign In button on the homepage and use Google OAuth — it's the quickest way. You can also sign up with your email address.
What should I type into the course topic field?
Be specific. Instead of "Photography", try "Portrait Photography for Beginners" or "Food Photography for Instagram". A clear topic produces a tighter, more actionable curriculum.
Generating Courses
How long does generation take?
Most courses are ready in 15–30 seconds. Longer courses (30+ lessons) may take up to 60 seconds. If a generation fails, try again — timeouts are rare.
Why does my generation sometimes look different from my last one?
AI generation has some inherent variability — this is by design. Each run produces a fresh, unique curriculum. If you want to explore different structures for the same topic, try generating multiple times.
Can I adjust the number of modules or lessons?
You can control overall course length (mini, standard, comprehensive) and Syllabi will size the curriculum accordingly. Fine-grained control over exact module counts is on our roadmap.
What does the 'niche' field do?
It scopes your course to a specific industry or context. For example, 'Data Analysis' + niche 'healthcare' produces a curriculum with healthcare data examples and use cases, rather than generic ones.
Exports
Which export formats are available?
Free tier: JSON only. Pro and 5-Pack: JSON, Markdown, PDF, and Notion export. The Notion export copies blocks you can paste directly into any Notion page.
Can I re-export a course I generated earlier?
Yes. All generations are saved to your account. Visit your profile page, find the course, and re-export in any available format.
My PDF looks broken — what should I do?
Try refreshing the page and exporting again. If the issue persists, contact support with your course title and a screenshot of the problem.
Billing & Plans
How do I cancel my Pro subscription?
Log in, go to your profile, and click Manage Subscription. You'll be redirected to the Stripe billing portal where you can cancel. Your access continues until the end of the paid period.
Can I get a refund?
Monthly subscription charges are non-refundable for past periods. If you cancel within 24 hours of your first subscription charge and haven't used any generations, contact us and we'll consider a courtesy refund.
What's the difference between Pro and the 5-Pack?
Pro ($29/month) is a subscription with unlimited generations — ideal if you create courses regularly. The 5-Pack ($39 one-time) gives you 5 generations with no recurring charges — ideal if you just need a few courses.
Is my payment information secure?
Yes. All payments are processed by Stripe — we never store your card details. Stripe is PCI DSS Level 1 certified, the highest level of payment security.
Technical
Which browsers are supported?
Syllabi works in all modern browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. We recommend keeping your browser up to date for the best experience.
Is there an API?
A public API is on our roadmap. If you're interested in early access, reach out to us at api@syllabi.ai.
Are my generations private?
Yes. Your generated curricula are private to your account and not visible to other users or shared publicly.
